Low impact. Another way to achieve quality.
We're constantly improving ourselves.
The honey industry has taken a flight and evolved over the years. New Zealand is the market leader and an example around the world. Zealandia Honey® wants to lead the industry in terms of sustainability and we review our processes and the way we do business continuously. For instance by improving our supply chain, looking for viable options such as compostable courier bags, packing tape and alternatives to bubble wrap. We're committed step by step everyday.
Achieving these bold goals we have set out for ourselves is not possible without key partnerships having the intent of continual improvement integrated in their processes. Adapting new technologies and materials helps us transition along the way.
Protect your business by protecting the environment.
Our beekeepers leave honey in the hives to improve the overall health of the bees. Caring for our environment is important to us and we are committed to operating our business responsibly. We only have one world, and we take it quite seriously to do everything we can to offer a sustainable and viable packaging for our honey.
At Zealandia Honey® we are proud to associate ourselves with partners such as Pharmapac, a Toitū Enviromark Diamond certified manufacturer. Toitū leads businesses with their system of carbon and environmental programmes. Providing them the science-based tools, actions and evidence to make real progress. Their focus lies at working together to sustain the future of our environment and economy.

Pure and uncultivated.
Our honey does not come from so called 'honey farms' our hives are strategically placed to get the best harvest. During the 'honey flow' the colonies in these hives will collect nectar from the plants around them. We can't send the bees to the Mānuka plant but we can increase our chances of getting a monofloral honey by putting them in a location with dense Mānuka bush.
Free of nasties.
To ensure the quality of our product packed in PET honey jars they are BPA and Phthalate free. This means it's safe for you to consume our honey, the way it is intended to be. No nasties just pure honey straight from the source.
Your jar might have been a milk bottle.
we know rPET is hygienic, strong and a remarkably energy-efficient packaging material. Add to that its versatility, and recyclability, and rPET boasts an excellent sustainability profile.
In fact, the environmental impact of rPET far exceeds glass, aluminium, card and just about any other container material. Furthermore, its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio allows PET to contain more in less packaging, resulting in less weight and less fuel when transported leaving a smaller carbon footprint.
rPet is 100% recycled material and complies with all food safety standards making it the perfect product to recycle and use again for our jars. All of our jars are completely suitable to recycle, after use the plastic is crushed and then shredded into small flakes which are then reprocessed to make new rPET bottles, or spun into polyester fiber. This recycled fiber is used to make textiles such as fleece garments, carpets, stuffing for pillows and life jackets.
Since we send a lot of our shipments to overseas, they must be robustly packed to minimize any external damages. We make sure the cardboard packaging we use are from providers who have sourced the materials sustainably. We are auditing all the packaging materials we use and are identifying areas that need to be switched to a sustainable sources of supply.
As we are working towards obtaining the ISO14001: Environmental Management Systems standard, we are designing policies and procedures that will help us with choosing suppliers who meet these stringent requirements. We are committed to attaining the standard by 2023.
We are working towards a set of goals to achieve our commitment to our environment and are incredibly proud of our progress in the area. We are investing in products and processes that will minimise production waste and strengthen our quality controls. We strive to continually improve our processes and products in order to minimize our impact on the environment.
